VISUAL MERCHANDISING is all about developing floor plans and three-dimensional displays in order to maximize sales. Goods or services can be displayed to highlight  their features and benefits. The purpose is "silent selling" -- to attract, engage, and motivate the customer to make a purchase.

  • Large retailers draw detailed merchandise plans that each of their locations is expected to follow diligently. 
  • Boutique retailers may not know their exact product mix and will need a basic plan showing their product categories, proposed fixtures, and graphics. The designer will assist with the actual product arrangements in real time.


Coordinated small signage  (e.g., product pricing and descriptions) plays a vital role in supporting the overall look and feel of the shopping experience. Lighting is often overlooked, but it can make or break an otherwise well-executed display.
